A Great Gulf Fixed

"And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us" ~Luke 16:26~

This is the story of the rich man and the beggar Lazarus. The rich man spent his life clothed well, and ate well. The beggar laid at his gate, full of sores, begging for the crumbs from the rich man's table. Both men died, and the rich man looks up from Hades and sees Lazarus in heaven, in Abraham's bosom. The rich man cries out to Abraham, being tormented by flames, begging for a drop of water. He also begged Abraham to send Lazarus back to earth to warn his five brothers of this place of torment that they might not go. But Abraham cannot. He replies to the rich man with the verse above...that there is a great gulf fixed between us, the living and the dead, and between heaven and hell. Once our decision is made, there is no going back.

A rich man now turned beggar. A beggar now living in the riches of glory.

One day, we will each face that gulf. Which side are you standing on? Where do your brothers and sisters stand? Your friends? Do you even know?

Fix your eyes on the things that matter in this life...the eternal things. The only things in this life that are eternal are people. Don't miss your chance.
